For those who, like me, had never heard of this preserved railway:
"The Battlefield Line is the last remaining part of the former Ashby & Nuneaton Joint Railway which was opened in 1873. It runs from Shackerstone via Market Bosworth to Shenton in Leicestershire and is operated by the Shackerstone Railway Society." From their web site, which explains that the battlefield is at Market Bosworth, Leics. The Battle of Bosworth took place to south of the town in 1485 as the final battle in the Wars of the Roses between the House of Lancaster and the House of York.
It is also the first time I have ever seen a picture of a traction engine running on rails!
Well done, Debbie!

It was only in February this year, 2010, after finding a piece of silver jewelry that they decided the battle actually took place in a field about a mile from Albion Hill. My history teacher said whilst it was the deciding battle in the war it actually was the penultimate one...
There is an original condition cafe on the station at Shackerstone that is absolutely fabulous. The line is only short but through nice countryside.
