A mystery at Buckfastleigh

26/7/2010.
Should this be on here or the Plant website?
It is at the South Devon Railway and has to be something to do with repairing locos but what?
Someone out there must know...

(Editor: here is fine, goes into album 'other stuff'... and all railway experts here!)

This is a hydraulic press for removing and fitting wheels on axles. It originally used water, but has been converted to hydraulic oil operation, and is in frequent use at the Buckfastleigh workshops, which specialise in locomotive re-tyring work. I hope that answers your question, John.

Thanks Peter
