82105 in Virgin colours

A class of only 10 locos has none the less managed to have one preserved 82108 which can be seen at Barrowhill, picture #2908.
Here 82105 is seen in Virgin colours.
For such a small class they had a chequered career with 1 retired in 1969, 1 in 1971, 6 in 1983 and the remaining 2 in 1987. The two early ones having been damaged beyond economical repair.

add commentComments:
They are not locos but Driving Van Trailers (DVT) non powered which were/ are used on WCML expresses with the locomotive, usually a Class 90 at the other end of the train. This reduces locomotive movements at terminal stations.
It's a development of push-pull operation a long standing railway practice.
