T9 30120

Former London and South Western Railway T9 4-4-0 loco.Known as Greyhounds they had a good turn of speed. Some were built in Glasgow by Dubs and Co.
No 120 was an early preservation candidate being restored in the early 1960s first of all in a green colour and later in BR lined black as 30120. This was the condition she was in when I took her at Ropley on the Mid-Hants in 1987.She seems to have disappeared now, maybe waiting overhaul.

She's at the Bodmin and Wenford Railway in Cornwall.
Can be seen on static display.
A "Greyhound" fund has been set up for her overhaul.

She is actually in The Forest of Dean under overhaul.
It is hoped to have her back at Bodmin, in steam, by July.

Will be good to have her back. Will she be in LSW or BR livery.

Added by Paul Strathdee on 20 March 2010.
As far as I am aware it will be in LSW as 120 but until she appears anything could happen.

As a postie delivering mail in Bream in the Forest of Dean I spotted this train having it's makeover. I am not "into" trains but seeing the number prominently displayed I was curious as to see what she was and "Googled" to come across this web site. I can repoert that she is looking good in black and red.

I have just seen her today on the back of a low loader in Bodmin on her way to the Bodmin and Wenford and she looked absolutely resplendent in brand new green livery. Cant wait to see her in steam

That's great news.
She will be run in and should be ready to take her full place in the Sept ( I think) gala along with the 2 Beatties.
Sadly I can't be there, having a hip replaced next week and won't be able to drive or walk long distances.
