Pobeda P-0001 2-10-0 freight locomotive

Photographed on 22 August 2009 at the Rizhsky Vokzal railway museum in Moscow, Russia.
Towards the end of WW2 a design group led by L.S. Lebedyanskiy developed this new Class, with innovations based on experience with the FD Class. These included a mechanical coal stoker, large high boiler, large firebox and large diameter (1500 mm) wheels.
The Class P-32 began production in 1945 with the name "Pobeda" meaning "Victory". Extensive comparative testing against the Ea Class "American Girls" resulted in a decision to concentrate future production on the P-32 Class.
This particular locomotive was built in 1945.
