Black 5 at Denton
This was my spot when I was a kid. The photo, taken with my Dad's Brownie 127, which he didn't know I had borrowed, was taken from a wall adjacent to the signal box and I spent hours there in the late fifties and early sixties. Unfortunately it was only on the odd occasion I could pinch his camera. Here we see LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 No.44806 returning light engine to Stockport Edgeley shed, probably from Dewsnap Sidings in 1965. The large building in the background was the Queens Hotel and was demolished to make way for the M67 motorway,as was the goods shed on the right to make way for a supermarket car park.
