Steam locomotive festival!

How about that?
A 10 Header. Steam, Steel and Stars 2 Gala at the Llangollen Railway
Sunday 27th April 2009 the last day of the 9 day Gala is "Cavalcade" day and what a fabulous sight the 10 make as they approach Carrog station.
They were accelerating as they came into view and what with the whistling this was truly the most amazing sight and sound that I have ever heard on a steam railway!!!
I estimated that there were over 1000 people watching here alone there were many more at the next station down the line.

Wonderful, John!
I had intended to go to this celebration at Llangollen myself but work got in the way . . .
How about identifying them all, from the Dukedog leading the procession to the Royal Scot at the end?

Many thanks, John, I am kicking myself for not throwing a sickie and flying over to see that! Quite possibly a sight that will never be seen again! Was it on the last day, as I believe this event spread over a week or more?

This was the second one, 2 years ago, they had 11 locos. The plan was for 12 this time but 3802 failed a few weeks ago and (4)5690 was not ready in time. The Gala lasted for 9 days, we were there for the last 3. The cavalcade was the last item on the program except for our train, with 6100 on the front, and 9 on the drawbar. Whether they will manage it again who knows. I would just say that the guys organising it did look as though they were having a great time so here's hoping....
