It was one of these -'Mallard' - which established the world speed record for steam of 126mph on Sunday 3 July 1938. The loco pictured is named 'Sir Nigel Gresley' after its designer. These locos worked expresses between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh until diesels took over in the 1960s. This picture was taken on 7 March on the Severn Valley Railway during its 2009 Steam Festival.
