Rotterdam Rail Feeding Locomotive
The Rotterdam Rail Feeding (RRF) company founded in 2005 has resulted in improved handling of inland rail transport. The company concentrates exclusively on marshalling within the harbour. RRF operates five radio-controlled locomotives within the Rotterdam harbour area and has managed to reduce delays at various terminals. The company ensures that the container trains are ready and in the correct configuration at the terminals in good time.
Rotterdam Rail Feeding clients include ACTS, Rail4Chem Benelux and ERS Railways. By making use of RRF's services, these companies do not need to use expensive diesel locomotives for marshalling, reducing their operational costs. RRF is currently mainly active at the ECT Terminal and expects to expand its marshalling activities to other terminals in the Rotterdam harbour area this year, including the Waalhaven area and Rotterdam-Europoort.
