Southern Rwy. 4501
Here is "01" in her green dress. There is a connection to England in this color. In the early 1900's, Fairfax Harrison, President of Southern Railways in USA, visited England to see their rail operations. He saw the British version of "Southern" and fell in love with the apple green color they painted some of the locomotions. When Mr. Harrison returned to America, he had his best locomotives on his classiest passenger trains painted green, just like he saw in England.
