Green Cargo Td diesel shunter 416
Photographed in the Skandiahamnen marshalling yard, Gothenburg, Sweden on 22 December 2013. Built in 1987 as the last of the series, by Kalmar Verkstads AB, and rebuilt from T44 in 2009.
Green Cargo is currently rebuilding 100 of these, the most common diesel shunters in Sweden, with 12-cylinder 4-stroke engines of type 12V 4000 R43 from MTU, with lower fuel consumption and reduced exhaust.
MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH of Friedrichshafen, Germany, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of diesel engines and complete systems. In 2005 DaimlerChrysler sold MTU to EQT which changed the name of the company to Tognum. However the MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH lives on as a brand name, together with Detroit Diesel, within Tognum AG.
