Greater Anglia 90006

Greater Anglia 90006 heads a train for London Liverpool Street at Norwich (14/12/13). The London to Norwich service (along with one or two Chiltern services) are the only remaining regular loco hauled passenger services in the country with pretty much everything else operated by multiple units.

The East Coast services from Kings Cross (Class 91 electric locos, Mk4 coaches and Driving Van Trailers) are also loco propelled. They are very easy to mistake for multiple units, though.

of course you are correct I was thinking more of old fashioned loco hauled stock where you have to open the doors yourself.

There's also the sleeper trains. Two a day Euston to Scotland and one from Paddington to Penzance. The 'Highland Sleeper' is usually worked by a Class 90 electric to Edinburgh with diesels (67s I think) working the three portions north (Aberdeen, Inverness, Fort William). The 'Lowland Sleeper' is Class 90 from Euston to Glasgow/Edinburgh (split portion). The Paddington-Penzance sleeper is usually hauled by a Class 57 diesel.
