Coronation Scot

Taken in June 1938 during a visit to the Empire Exhibition in Glasgow.


Co-ed note - Thanks very much for the photo Phillip. I feel sure that our regular viewers will love this and quite expect a few comments.
The Coronation Scot was the name of the train rather than the loco - I would like to think that it might be (4)6220 Coronation on the front.

Possibly is as enhancing it a bit there looks to be something above the nameplate, say like Coronation's crown......

Great Historic shot. Shame we didn't have digital then. The first five were in Blue with silver striping. I wouldn't mind betting this is one of the first five as I think the deeper maroon colour the later members of the class were painted would have shown as a deeper grey on the exposure. Neve rthe less a cracking shot.
