Tranz Metro EM at Woburn - New Zealand

Tranz Metro Ganz Mavag unit EM 1511 on Upper Hutt to Wellington service near Woburn. The system was electrified at 1500V DC from late 1940's. The distant Rimutaka Ranges were a formidable barrier for the railway which, until the Rimutaka Tunnel opened in 1955, descended on an 1 in 15 Fell centre rail incline for 5Km.
