IC4 inaugural ride

August 7, 2008

This is the "new" long-distance train in Denmark. Deliveries have been delayed for more than ten years now because of technical difficulties. It is destined to replace the now 20 year old MF-series (IC3) - it was only ten years old at the time of order. This photo was taken at the inaugural ride into Copenhagen, until then it had only circulated on selected routes in Jutland (~200-300 km's away).

In October 2013 DSB received permission to run IC4 trains like this as multiple units, with two connected together. They run between Copenhagen and Jylland (Jutland) to the north of Denmark.
