AEG no9 Tanhill Railway 2006
This unusual Locomotive was built by AEG (Berlin) in 1913 for the Harton Coillery Electric Railway in South Shields Tyne and Wear in North East England. This industrial Railway was unusual because it was operated by overhead Electric Locos. The line closed in 1988 and this Loco (with one or two others)can be seen at the Tanhill Railway near Gateshead in Tyne and Wear. An excellent History on this very interesting system is available from Oakwood Press, it is a 'must have' for anyone interested in industrial railways of North East England.
