According to the list of extant UK breakdown cranes published on the Web by the Breakdown Crane Association, this was built by Cowans Sheldon, order no. 6871, in 1939 for the LNER, original number 941599, CEPS nos. ADRC95218 and ADRC96719, 45 tons capacity, steam converted to diesel-hydraulic and in working order.

A swift surf identifies this crane as ADRC 96719.
Initially built by Cowans Sheldon for the LNER in 1940 as a 45 ton crane.
It was converted from steam to diesel hydraulic back in 1986 and upgraded to a 50 ton lifting load.
It finished up stationed at Brighton before being withdrawn and moved up to the Crewe Heritage centre.
