311099 and another approaching Dalmuir with an Airdrie to Balloch service in March 1990.
Built by Cravens at Sheffield in 1967 for the Glasgow South Bank Electrification Scheme to Gourock and Wemyss Bay they were to the same design with very slight differences to the AM3/303 units introduced in 1960 in Glasgow - Blue Trains.
With newer stock arriving, 311s then worked on all the other Glasgow suburban routes.
