60800 Green Arrow

Sir Nigel Gresley's V2 class, mixed traffic 2-6-2 locomotive 60800 Green Arrow. Built in 1936, they are often described by LNER men as the 'engines that won the war'. They were very strong and powerful and moved massive trains and tonnages on the LNER main lines in England and Scotland. Green Arrow is the last survivor of a class of 184 locomotives. Seen at the Doncaster 150 in July 2003.
