No: 12641   Contributor: Paul Strathdee   Year: 1993   Manufacturer: Brush Traction   Country: England

InterCity's Class 47 at Carlisle with a railtour in May 1993. She entered traffic in September 1965 at Canton. Naming took place in 1993, Captain Manisty being a leading light in railway preservation I believe.
The last I heard she had been renumbered in the 47/7 series.

It was renumbered as 47788, being allocated to Rail Express Systems. It was withdrawn and sent to Springs Branch at Wigan for component recovery and finally cut up in October 2000.

Thanks Steve, did it keep the name or did it get a RES- name.

It kept its name after being renumbered right through to being stored unservicable in August 2000. There are a number of shots of 47788 on railtours with the plates in place at various sites on the web.
