For a short period when new some Class 27 were allocated to Thornaby shed, here we see D5371 and D5370 departing from Neville Hill Leeds with a train of empty steel bolsters for Tees Yard 18th April 1962. Thornaby was the only shed that I saw useing the corridor connection between diesel locos, the 51L shed plate can bee seen below the works plate on D5370.
D5370 was built by BRC&W works No DEL213 in 1962 she was renumbered 27023 before been withdrawn in May 1986 and scrapped at V.Berry Leicester in August 1987.
D5371 was built by BRC&W works No DEL214 in 1962 she was renumbered 27024 before been withdrawn in July 1987 and is now preserved.
