Sorry I have no idea what class of engine this is. Perhaps the title can be ammended in due course.
Seen travelling light into Holyhead, then a short while later she re-appeared, seemingly pulling a Virgin train, diesel also at the rear.
Andrew.

Co-ed - Looks like a class 50 to me. Can anyone confirm please?

This could well be Class 50 no. 50007 Sir Edward Elgar; all Class 50 locomotives extant are preserved now.

I think its 50044 which was on a tour to Holyhead recently. I think 50007 might still be green(?)

OK, Paul you are a lot closer than me; I am over 600 miles away here in Gothenburg with only reference books and railway magazines to assist!

This is definately a Class 50 which is restored to its mid 70's conditon. The unit it is pulling appears to be one of those Virgin Voyager things.

It looks like a WCML set of Mk3 coaches with DVT.

I think that this was the Snowdon Ranger railtour. 50044 Exeter was the lead loco and 57304 Gordon Tracey was the trailing loco. There is a video of the train elsewhere on the 'net.

This is indeed 50044 hauling the Virgin Mk3 set of coaches back to London Euston the Snowdon Ranger Railtour run by PTG Tour Ltd. 50044 had gone light engine to Valley to turn the loco due to a fault on the No2 End cab.

It would not have been restored to its mid 70's condition Chris. Re-generation equipment plus much other stuff was removed and many modifications carried out when the Class 50 fleet were refurbished at Doncaster's Plant Works.
