Photographed through a haze of steam from Class 4MT 80135 on 23 April 2007, on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Built by Beyer Peacock, Manchester, in 1965. Sulzer 1,250 hp diesel engine powering four AEI axle-hung traction motors. Became TOPS no. 25278.
In total, 327 locomotives of this type were built between 1961 and 1967, and they received the nickname "Rats" as they appeared almost everywhere in the UK.
