Photo of the steam locomotive 4472 Flying Scotsman
We haven't seen Scotsman for quite a while, wait till next year 2012. So here's a quite old shot in pretty well authentic livery. Single chimney, no smoke deflectors and 4472 Apple Green.
4472 Was employed on long-distance express trains on the LNER and its successors, British Railways Eastern and North-Eastern Regions, notably on the 10am London to Edinburgh Flying Scotsman service after which it was named. In its career 4472 Flying Scotsman has covered more than 2,000,000 miles (3,200,000 km).
There are, of course, quite a few photos of 4472 on Trains here are just a few.
