DR98500, Track and Service Car
Photographed in the yard of the Nene Valley Railway at Wansford, on 15 March 2011.
Built in 1985 by Plasser & Theurer, this was the first of a short series of on-track-machines for carrying out minor works, being ideally suited to some of Scotland's more remote worksites (it came to the NVR from Perth, domnated by Amey). The vehicle has two axles, being 10.0m over headstocks, equipped with a driving cab and mess facilities at one end, and a side tipping truck with 5 tonne Atlas hydraulic arm at the other. The hydraulic arm can also work to an attached flat wagon.
