narrow guage locomotive LYd2 in St Kitts
This locomotive built in Romania is used for the St Kitts Scenic railway in St. Kitts. This is the only narrow guage that is used on these islands that was originally used for the sugar cane production back in the early 1900's. This locomotive is 8 years old.
Co-ed. A few notes.
These locos were made in Romania between 1976 and 1982 for Polish Railways.
What I thought was a name, LYd2, is actually a description of the loco:
L = motor locomotive
Y = 3 axle (0-6-0)
d = diesel
2 = hydraulic transmission.
It has a cruising speed of 7 kph.
The body work does appear to have been modified and the original 350hp Maybach engine has been replaced with a 300hp one make unknown.
The number of the loco is L30H (I think!).
