D1015 Western Champion at Eastleigh

Class 52, D1015, Western Champion at the Eastleigh Works Centenary Celebration in 2009.
The Westerns are diesel hydraulics built for the Western Region of BR between 1961 and 1964 at Swindon. D1015 was built in 1963

It was a split build between BREL Sindon and Crewe works, Swindon did not build all the Class 52 Westerns, likewise they did not build all the B-B Warships.

Quite right too!!
Can't remember which one now but somebodies website mislead me.
D1000 to D1029 were Swindon built and D1030 to D1073 built at Crewe.

Some of the Warships came from the NB in Glasgow but the least said about some of them the better!
The Westerns were in my opinion the best looking of all BR's Main Line diesels. I'm sure it's 1015 which has reached some of the furthest Scottish extremeties on a tour.
